Like you haven't heard that before, right?
And Jon and I knew this. We know it so much more now!
We have been so blessed. So incredibly blessed. Did you know that since we have had Caleb, we have only had to buy formula, 2 packs of diapers, and some preemie clothes? Really! We have had people buy him everything he needs, and more that he does not need. {Smile} It has been such a blessing to have friends and family come around us and support us in this way.
But a baby is still expensive.
So, how do you do it?
We are feeding Caleb baby food now. For all you non-parenting rookies out there, what do you do to save money on baby food?
-Do you make your own? How do you do it? We might try it, but I don't know what to do.
-Do you clip coupons? Are there good online sources that have some great coupon deals out there?
-Do you shop at a certain store? Which store is the cheapest?
Help a mother out!

We made our own baby food. We bought canned veggies, ran them through the food processer and froze them in ice cube trays. We would microwave one cube when they were tiny and two or more when they were bigger. It was easy to make several batches that would last a few weeks.
well back near our home town is the baby food capital, Fremont!! And they have their huge baby food factory there. They have a store that is connected to the warehouse where people that had family that worked at Gerber could shop. My best friend's husband's dad worked at Gerber so me and samantha would go there and get stocked up on baby food. They would sell them by the case, so it was like 25 jars of baby food for a $1. They also had baby juice and stuff. I could check into it for you, to see if there regulations have changed.
I pretty much made all my baby food. It's not hard to make at all, just time consuming. For carrots, just chop them up and cook with water then put in a blender or food processor. Depending on how thick you want it you may need to add some water, same with squash, just gets cooked in the oven. Then we'd put ours in ice cube trays and froze them too!!
Hope this is helpful....no offense Rachel, but I'd be careful getting canned veggies, since they have so much added salt and preservatives!! BUt what ever is best for you Kristen! Happy Baby food making!!
