Thoughts from a mom (a continuing post)

-Every public restroom should have a diaper changing table, both the men's and the women's. My husband takes the baby places, shouldn't he have to change a diaper?

-I really like the slings/highchairs/holders for infant carseats at restaurants that we have been to

-There should be clothes that repel infant drool and spit up

-New moms should get free coffee

-Just because I say I went to bed at 9pm does not mean I got a good night of sleep....it could mean that I was up every 30 minutes with a needy boy.

-Winnie the Pooh should be outlawed from baby clothes

-Boppy pillows are pretty much amazing

-Dr. Brown bottles are worth the hype

**This will be an ongoing and continuous post. Please comment and I will add your ideas to my next post. **

Blah

Life has consisted of me being crazy sick and trying to take care of a baby.

Needless to say, neither of us have gotten a lot of sleep.

Bad habits have instilled.

And sleep training begins NOW.

We are getting really good at waiting

Good News: Birth mom wants to continue with the adoption process and is happy in her decision thus far.

Not so good news: The judge says that the birth father must be served papers and will not terminate rights until that is done. The adoption agency will be hiring a "server" and will try to track him down.

The next court date is April 12. The father needs to be contacted by then.

Now...we wait, and enjoy time with the boy God has given us:)

It all depends on what the judge says

Tomorrow at 9am

Caleb's birth mother and social worker will be before the judge in our county

The birth father might be there

If the birth father is not there, the judge will decide whether or not he had adequate notice for the court date

Pray that the birth mom continues to go through with the adoption, pray that the judge is in favor of us adopting Caleb

Pray that the birth father's rights would be terminated

We will let you know tomorrow:)

We are going to try for March 15....

Here is the email we received from our adoption case worker this afternoon:

Hi Kristin and Jon, I'm in and out of the office today so it will be hard to reach me by phone, but I wanted to give you an update. The hearing is still set for next week Monday, and I will have someone call you to let you know the outcome since I will be on vacation that day. The birth father refused to take the court papers, but he is aware of the court date (according to birth mother). As such, the hearing will be held and the judge will decide if the birth father received adequate notice. (Birth mom's social worker) believes everything that could possibly and legally be done to serve him papers has been accomplished so we will pray the judge thinks so too!

Would you join us in prayer? Praying that the judge allows for the termination hearing Monday March 15, 9a?

Wait, it's March?

Well, shoot. Where did all of my resolutions go? What happened to "THIS YEAR IS GOING TO BE DIFFERENT?" How is it that it already March, and I have seen no significant change?

Oh wait.

Because its only March.

And I said this year is going to be different.

In order to change my life in any significance, it is going to take time.

So here I am, Monday March 8, plugging away. Falling short. Starting over. Falling again. Starting again.

And making changes.

A night with daddy

"Help! I need a bottle quick!"

"Someone tell daddy that he needs to shave. His face is scratchy."
"Dad, this is so embarrassing! All this smoochin'!"

"Caleb, watch closely what I do. And then you do it. That's right, open your mouth wide."

"Good job! Way to follow directions!"

"I just LOVE Firday nights with Dad!"

This is how you know we belong together

We both have a VERY VERY hard time of waking up in the morning, well at any point for that reason. It doesn't matter how much sleep we get or don't get the process of waking up is miserable. Seriously, to be forced out of a warm bed into a cold world....come on now. There must be something worth waking up for.

Who's in Charge?

Dear Mommy and Daddy,

From now on...I am in charge.

I will decide when you eat, how you spend your money, how many times a day you change your clothes and I will decide on your schedule.

Most importantly I will decide when you sleep.

If for any reason you forget that I am in charge, I have the uniform to prove it.

-Caleb
