26 Days of P90X completed! I never thought that I would do a work out this intense, always thought I was too weak, or "not the work out type."
Truth be told: I LOVE IT. I am shouting from the roof tops. Definitely my favorite work out thus far.
It doesn't mean that I enjoy 90 minutes of sweat yoga. Or Dreya rolls. Or SuperMan Banana. BUT...I love that I am FINALLY taking over my body, taking good care of it, pushing it to the extreme. I love that I can feel myself getting stronger, that my clothes are fitting better and I feel better about myself. I love the common ground that it gives Jon and I and sometimes, yes sometimes, we work out together. Never thought I would see the day.
I laugh. If you only knew my crazy insecurities. I remember when we were dating in high school. I had a pass to a local gym. One time Jon called my house (oh the days of no cell phones. G A S P. A teenage boy calling his teenage girlfriend's house?!?! What? No texting? No cell phones?) My mom told Jon that I was at the gym. I was so mad. I didn't want him knowing I was working out. I thought he would laugh at me. And now...I actually look forward to working out WITH him.
A few surprising things: I never thought I could work out so much, eat so well, clothes fit so differently (in a good way) and not lose much weight. Seriously frustrating. All this work on not a lot of weight lost. It is crazy. Depending on the day, I have lost anywhere from 3-7lbs. I really was expecting more. Another surprising thing....I actually love the work outs. Don't get me wrong, it is hard to motivate myself, and get out of bed early, but once I do....I LOVE IT. Fun stuff.
What are you doing to get in shape this winter?

If Caleb can do it....so can I!
I am trying to get in the rhythm of working out right when I get up in the morning, but when my toddler decides not to sleep at all.... I get to work out with him. Wow. I know a burned some more calories than normal. I popped in the dvd and got a work out I wasn't expecting.
During the jump rope section....I held him as I jumped
During the push ups....he sat on my back, yelling and giggling, "HORSE"
During the ab section....he sat on my saying, "Mommy belly," which of course I took to mean, "Mommy, work harder to get rid of that belly."
He keeps running around the house, going, "Jump mumma," (because of all the jumping jacks). Whew.
So Jillian Michaels, I have completed Day #4 of the 30 Day Shred (again). If you want to add tougher moves to your dvd's you could always hire my toddler.

Operation: Weight Loss (2 Month Low Carb) Day #8
Yay!!! It feels good to say that I am officially on Day #8. I am not really counting the days of low carb eating as much as I am counting other days (Bible in 90 Days, 30 Day Shred), but it is good to NOT see Day #1.
I have always loved low carb eating, once I get over the initial withdrawl:) I see success. So far I have lost 5 lbs since last Tuesday. I know I have gained endurance in working out. I am slowly thinking that working out and eating healthy will become habitual in my life. We shall see:)
5lbs down is a huge success in my book! It is the encouragement I need to keep going.

Operation: Weight Loss (2 Month Low Carb) Day #1 (AGAIN)
When you fall off the horse, you need to get right back on.
Exactly what I am doing this morning.
Eating carb free went great last week.
That was until we decided to go up to the lake, lounge around and eat junk all weekend. Apparently it is really hard to diet during a holiday weekend, especially at my grandma's house.
That being said. Let's do this!!! Today is a new day, I have found new motivation and am ready to shed these pounds. Looking forward to a better update next Tuesday.
The bad news? I don't even want to share, but because this blog is where I am going to find accountability and support, I will.
I am up 4.4lbs. EW. Gross. Ok, and that is my complaining and self loathing for the day.
Today is a new day and I will own it!

Operation: Weight Loss (2 Month Low Carb) Day #1
2 Months, Really? Ok. Deal.
Starting today, Jon and I are embarking on two months of no carbs.....er--- two months with no bad carbs. We are not eliminating fruit from our diet, and we will have whole grains on a limited basis. Mostly though, lean protein and veggies for the next two months.
We both have pretty huge goals to lose weight. I keep talking about it, but it is time to do something. Jon has been working out very consistently and has lost quite a bit of weight, but is looking to lose more as he controls his eating.
Me...well I am a bunch of talk and struggle heavily (pun intended) with follow through. So friends, ask away! Keep me accountable. Feel free to hang out with me, and NOT ask me out for ice cream, but to go on a walk or bike ride instead:))
Welcome to our journey.

Thinking Thin on a Thursday
If you are a woman, you have thought about it....dare I say, bathing suit season?
Ouch. I know that hurt.
If it is not your overly jiggly arms, rolly poly belly or thick thighs, then maybe it is your pasty white skin?
For me, its all of the above.
Don't start on the whole, "beauty is on the inside." I get that, and believe it. But as a women, we want to be beautiful, we want to be confident in our own skin.
I am dreading summer. Kicking myself for not keeping up on the dieting and exercising that I was doing this winter. I am mad that this is a continuous cycle in my life. I am scared to death to bare those arms of jello.
This week I made a commitment to get "summer ready." I have a lot of work to do before summer hits, but it's a start. I am eating healthy, and thanks to our new family member, I am able to get a lot of walking it.
This week's goal is to average 30 minutes a day of exercising. So far, so good:)

Yeah, it was THAT bad.......
On Friday, August 7, 2010 I finished my first ever 5k....just barely. It was one of the most miserable physical experiences I have ever had in my life.....and I am by nature, an exaggerator. And yes it was THAT bad.
So bad that I started crying at mile 1
So bad that all runners had passed me
So bad that most walkers had passed me
So bad that all of the children could have lapped me twice
So bad that people with strollers lapped me
So bad that old women and men were running laps around me
So bad that if I would have been in my own town, I would have walked straight home
So bad that I thought it was my most embarrassing moment thus far
So bad that I thought my husband and friends would be ashamed of me
So bad that I vowed never to run again....ever
So bad that I was planning my dinner/dessert binge when I got home
So bad that I could not take off my sunglasses because I was crying
So bad that I spent most of the time walking and not even running
So bad that I was in a pretty bad spot of self loathing
So bad, that I almost finished last
The whole experience was awful. I want to keep running on my own, because I still have a lot of weight to lose, but I don't know if I will do another race again.....at least, a race where I try to run. I can walk a race, but trying to run is a whole other game.

{Loss of the Battle}
What battle?
The battle of the holiday weekend
I didn't even fight it. I just gave in.
And ate.
And didn't exercise.
And ate some more.
And didn't exercise.
And got out of great routine.
But you know what? I am not done. I may have lost the battle, but the war to beat the game of weight loss is still very much before my eyes.
I have less than 3 months to fit into this super cute bridesmaid dress.
So please.....help me to press on friends! Wanna work out with me and push me to keep going? I would love the help!
