on a financial note....

Dear Friends, Family and Partners in Ministry,

Many of you received my newsletter last week and I wanted to send out an email clarifying some details on the financial front:)

PRAISE God! At this time, I do not anticipate having a deficit when my fiscal year comes to an end June 30. Praise God that there will be no debt!

I was asking many of you to pray, fast and to give. This was intended for the following year's budget, starting July 1, 2009. My goal and heart's desire is to be working full time on Albion's campus AND to be getting paid for it:) At this point, my salary does not represent a full time salary, which means I can still work full time, and not get paid for it, or I can work part time, and continue with my part time job. In order for my to cover the ministry responsibilities of being a full time staff worker, including training, travel, salary and other ministry expenses, I need to raise an extra $20,000.

The confusion came in this area.....I need to raise the extra money so I can focus all of my time and energy on campus in the fall, without having a part time job, but as of now I will be ending the fiscal year in the black.

I apologize for all of the confusion. Thank you for your prayers, your support and your commitment to the ministry.

A time for Evaluation

This time of the year is time to evaluate the ministry of the chapter, to pray and to seek the Lord and plan for next year. Please pray and we enter this season :)

Spring is in the air! I am so excited for the energy flowing here at Albion. Ministry is going well, and each day the Lord is giving me excitement to wake up and work with students. I have been LOVING my job, my calling as a campus minister. Truly the Lord has plans to transform the lives of students and faculty, the renew the campus and develop world changers.....and the best part.....YOU GET TO BE A PART OF IT! PRAISE GOD WITH ME! *Lyndsey, Julia, Cynthia, and Kris, all a part of Kappa Delta, a sorority on campus. I have talked with each of them, and they want to start a Bible Study in their house in the fall. *Kristi---our chapter president. She is growing faithfully in the Lord, and committed to seeing the InterVarsity chapter grow both spiritually and numerically, in the midst of her heavy class load as a pre-med student. *Kwame- a gifted teacher of the word of God. He is leading a Bible study in the dorms on Thursday evenings. The Lord has given him the gift of teaching, and we get to be the recipients of his gift! WOULD YOU PRAY WITH ME? *I am in the process of recruiting students for our annual spring chapter camp. It is a week long training in leadership, and the students who go, come back with a vision, and desire to reach the campus with the good news of Jesus. Would you pray that students would be able to go, both that their schedules would be open, and that the finances would be provided? *Spring time means, time to evaluate the year, plan for next year, and to call students into leadership. Would you join with me in prayer as I meet with students, discussing these three topics? Pray that we would have the mindset of Christ. Dear Praying Friends, Family and Ministry Partners, This week is the week before spring break! I can't believe how fast the semester is flying by. Each day, I am reminded more and more that I love my job, and that there is much work to be done on campus! Please pray with me and for me. *Small Group Bible Studies, pray that we would continue to have new students come, that the word of God would be transformational and the the community between students would grow *Pray for students as they make decisions on where to live next year. Pray that they would seek the Lord, and live intentionally in a place where they can be used by God. *Prayer prayer, everywhere! Prayer is spreading among the chapter. Many students are seeking the Lord on campus, both personally, and corporately. Praise God for this, and pray that we would continue to not move forward, unless the Lord moves us. *Pray that this week would end well, as I meet with students and "send them off" on their spring breaks. * I am starting to recruit from our spring conference, called Chapter Focus Week. It is an incredible week of leadership training, but many students are hesitant because of the costs. Please pray that the costs would be provided for, and that students would go. *PRAISE! Jon and I have moved into our new house. Albion is officially our home, and we pray that our house would be a house of ministry and encouragement. NOTE...new address 410 Burr Oak, Albion, MI 49224 *Continue to pray for my financial situation. We are all facing the crisis in the economy, and many of our staff members are having to get second jobs to help with the financial burden. I am still $20,000 away from reaching my full time budget, and therefore am not giving all of my time on campus. I have a second job to help supplement. Praise God that He continues to provide. Pray that fear would not run rampant in these times, and pray that God would continue to bless this ministry. If you would like to give, even a one time gift, please contact me. "Moved" IN?

We have officially moved into our new house....that being said, I am not entirely sure where everything is, and there is still a lot of work to be done, but we really feel like is home for us. So if you are bored, have some free time and want to put a paint brush in your hand, or start moving things around, come on over!

Albion is our home

It is official. Albion is our home, we closed on our house. We are working hard at painting, and moving in. Thank you for all of your prayers. Please pray that this would be a house of ministry, a place where we can have students over and feel at home, and a place where whatever we do, the Lord is glorified.

Albion College Changes

FYE PROGRAM GONE
Each fall, all the first year students go through a First Year Experience Class. Along with their class, they have upperclassmen as mentors. The goal of this is to help retain students and to help them get assimilated into Albion and into college life in general. It has been a great program and pivotal in helping students get involved on campus. Because of budget cuts, students will still have the FYE classes, but no more mentors and other programs that will help them get involved.

SEATON AND I-HOUSE CLOSING
Seaton and I House (International House) are two residential halls on campus that are being closed for the next school year. Numbers are drastically down for incoming freshmen.

FISKE CHRISTIAN HOUSE IS NO LONGER
For several years, many christians have lived in a the Fiske Christian House, a house that can hold 24 people, both male and female. They have never been able to fill the house, so the college is making it into a all girls house. This is such an answer to prayer! I have been praying that Christians would move out of this house, and live in missional communities in the dorms. Pray with me that christian students would move out of the Christian bubble housing and find places to live that are strategic for reaching people with the Gospel!

I am looking at all of these changes as opportunities. I am excited for what could happen. Pray that the InterVarsity chapter would step up and be able to minister to freshmen, to help them get plugged in. Pray that students would live in the dorms and be intentional in their relationships.

Also, pray for a student who is applying to be an RA. Pray that she would get this position and be able to influence her residents for Christ.
